Through our workshops, we aim to contribute to the community of scholars concerned with the international study of race, racism, and anti-racism. We hope to organize these workshops annually, alternating between virtual and in-person formats.
Workshop on Human Rights and International Relations (2026)
We are pleased to announce the call for paper proposals for our fourth annual workshop. The workshop is organized by Zoltán I. Búzás (University of Notre Dame) under the umbrella of the International Race and Rights Lab with the generous support of the Klau Institute for Civil and Human Rights. The deadline for proposal submissions (500 words) is December 20, 2025. The workshop will take place virtually on May 15, 2026. Full papers will be due a week before the workshop.
We invite paper proposals on any topic related to human rights and international relations broadly defined. We are very interested in studies that explore racism and anti-racism, and we welcome all methodological orientations. We especially encourage advanced graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and junior faculty to apply, but everyone is welcome. Questions and abstracts should be sent to Zoltán I. Búzás (zbuzas@nd.edu).
Past Workshops
Our inaugural workshops, held both in person at the University of Notre Dame and virtually, were a great success. Below you’ll find schedules of speakers and topics for those workshops.
